Trip Overview

The Gokyo Valley is perhaps the most spectacular of the valleys in the Everest region and while the trail to Everest Base Camp gets close to the world’s highest mountain there are those who suggest the view from Gokyo Peak offers the best panoramic view in the region. The trail to Gokyo has a network of small lodges which have recently seen big improvements in food and accommodation facilities.

 

Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Upon arrival in Kathmandu:
you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel in a private vehicle and briefed about your trekking program and the equipment’s you will require during the trekking period and other important aspects related to trekking and introduction with your trekking guide and in the evening dinner in a typical Nepali Restaurant with traditional cultural dance show.

Day 02: 30min flight to Lukla and trek to Phakding (2610m):
Today we fly on a small plane to the Himalayan foothills from where we begin our trek into the Everest region. From the flight you will see amazing Nepal mountains and hills and on reaching Lukla we start trekking to Phakding it will take around 3 hours and today’s trails will be very easy passing through big Sherpa villages.

Day 03: Trek to Namche Bazaar(3440m)
Today we continue trekking along the banks of the Dudh Kosi River, crossing this majestic river many times on exciting suspension bridges laden with prayer flags. After entering Sagarmatha National Park, the trail climbs steeply with breathtaking views to Namche Bazaar, the gateway to the Everest region. Today we trek for around 5-6 hours.

Day 04: Rest day at Namche Bazaar:
Today is a rest and acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar. Namche Bazaar is a colorful village with many wonderful and interesting shops and vendors, fabulous food, and stunning views of the surrounding mountains. An early hike above town, before the clouds move in, reward climbers with a spectacular Himalayan sunrise and views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse (the 4th highest peak in the world), and the beautiful Ama Dablam. On the way down, we can visit the Sherpa Museum that houses an exhibit on traditional Sherpa lifestyle and a fabulous photography display by a local Nepalese naturalist. One room highlights the Sherpa traditions and in another, Sherpa high altitude climbers are presented.

Day 05: Namche to Dole (4000m):
Today after breakfast we hike up through beautiful jungles and on the way you can observe yak farm after around 5/6 hours we reach Dolle and overnight stay.

Day 06: Dole to Machhermo(4400m):
Today the trek is very easy and you trek passing through big yak grass lands enjoying close Himalayan views and after almost 4 hours of trekking you will reach Macherma and overnight stay.

Day 07: Machhermo to Gokyo Lake (4750m):
Today after breakfast we slowly hike up and today you may feel a bit different than other days because now we will almost be in high altitude and nothing grows here and the only trees you can see here are a few alpine vegetation and the trail also will be uphill climb with many stone steps but you will enjoy the breath taking water falls after every few minutes and after a few hours you will see many small glacier lakes and after around 4 hours walk you will reach Gokyo ri and overnight stay.

Day 08: Hiking to Gokyo ri and trekking to Thangnak:
From Gokyo lake early in the morning hike to Gokyo Ri/Gokyo peak (5545m) after hiking up around one and half hours we will reach Gokori peak which is one of the best view point from here we can see from a very close distance all panoramic snow covered mountain views including Mt. Everest 8848m, Mt Lhotse 8516m, Mt. Cho Oyu 8201m,Mt. Nuptse 7855m, Mt. Pumori 7161m, Mt. Amadablam 6856m, Mt. Thamserku 6723m, Mt. Kantega 6685m, Mt.Kusum Khagaru 6367m,Mt.Kongde 6011m,Mt.Twache peak 6367m, Mt. Cholaste 6335m etc and after spending sometime walk back to Gokyo lake ,after lunch continue trek to Thangnak(4850m) and overnight stay.

Day 09: Thangnak to Dzongla (4800m):
Today we will get up early in the morning and have breakfast and hike up, today we will have to pass Chila pass which is 5550 meter high we must cross the pass before 10 AM as we have to walk on high altitude and on snow after heading for about 1-2 hours we will get to Dzongla and overnight stay.

Day 10: Dzongla to Lobuche (4910m):
Today is a very easy walking day after breakfast walking slowly enjoying very beautiful views of Mt.Amadablam and around lunch time we reach Lobuchey and have lunch and take rest. Overnight stay in Lobuche.

Day 11: Trek from Lobuche to Gorak Shep (5160m):
Today after breakfast we start ascending up and the trail requires climbing up many stone steps and after around 3 hours you will reach GorakShep where you will spend today’s night. You will have hot lunch here and check into a hotel room and after a short rest we will proceed to Everest base camp it will take around 2 hours to get there and on the way you can see many memorial stupas built in memory of people who died while trying to climb MT.Everest and you will enjoy seeing big glacier on reaching base camp and you can enjoy touching the snow mountain and taking few photos and after spending a while here we walk back to Gorakshep and overnight stay.

Day 12: Hiking to Kalapatthar (5545m) and trek back to Dingboche:
Today is the climax of our trip. We start early at dawn to make a side trip to Kala Patthar to catch the dramatic views from Kala Patthar which is an hour’s walk to witness the first light of day shining on Mt. Everest if the weather is good.As we reach the top, we sit on the Kala Patthar rocks and our eyes take in the unbelievable Himalayan Panorama, wandering from one mighty massif to another. We take as many pictures as we possibly can with our camera so they can last a lifetime. On returning to Gorak Shep, we have breakfast and then trek to Dingboche and overnight stay.

Day 13: Dingboche – Namche Bazaar
Further return-descent to Namche Bazaar – once again traversing the beautiful, prismatic forests of blue pine and rhododendron.

Day 14: Namche Bazaar – Lukla
An easy walk down to Lulka for the final night’s stay in the Khumbu region – participants can explore Lukla, a rapidly changing portion of the Himalayas.

Day 15: Lukla – Kathmandu
Take a return flight from Lukla to Kathmandu where participants can kick up their feet and relax at a hotel; taking time to reflect on the journey behind them. Free day for personal activities and in the evening join up for dinner in a typical Nepali restaurant enjoying cultural show.

Day 16: Transfer to airport in a private vehicle for final departure to your destination.
